Dental Care: Replacing Your Missing Teeth with a Dental Bridge

Posted .

If you are embarrassed by your smile because of one or more of your missing teeth, we have a way to help you: Dental bridges!

A dental bridge is a successful product that can repair your smile for five to 15 years. It is made up of dental crowns and artificial teeth and is anchored by the natural teeth that lie on both sides of the gap in your mouth.

The process of placing the bridge is simple and painless. First, your dentist will prepare your anchoring teeth by trimming their surfaces and making room for the crowns. Then, he will make impressions of your teeth and will send those impressions to the dental lab where your bridge will be created. While you wait for your bridge, you will wear a temporary bridge to make eating, talking, and smiling much easier. When your official bridge is ready, you will come back into our office and make sure the bridge fits perfectly in your smile. If it does, your dentist will cement it into place.

A dental bridge can do many things for you and your smile, including:

• Improve your smile’s appearance
• Maintain the shape of your face
• Improve your bite
• Give you the ability to chew and speak properly
• Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of place
