Many people can have all of the self-confidence in the world, but it is easily dampened when a tooth breaks. Crowns are recommended when fillings get too big and increase the chance for breakage, or if a tooth shows signs of a fracture or crack. Here at the dental practice of Jeff Jones, DDS, Dr. Jones and Dr. Buck offer crowns for those teeth that need the extra help.
A dental crown in Dallas, Texas, may be the answer to many problems. We can build and restore your ideal tooth by choosing to place a crown. The crowning process can:
- Protect weak teeth
- Cover and support a tooth that is nearly disintegrated
- Cover misshapen or discolored teeth
- Restore a broken or worn down tooth
- Make a cosmetic alteration
- Cover a dental implant
- Much more
Preparing the tooth for a crown includes your dentist numbing your tooth and gums. The tooth will then be prepared along the surface and sides to allow the crown to fit. If your tooth is one that has a large amount of mass missing, your dentist will need to do a filling to rebuild your tooth structure prior to the crown. Your crown will later be inserted after it is custom made to fit perfectly in your mouth. This process can take up to two visits and will fix any unwanted characteristics in your worn down and faded tooth.
