If you have a cavity that has grown too large to easily be fixed by a normal filling, a dental crown will often be recommended by Dr. Jeff Jones. Crowns and a replica of your tooth’s layer of enamel that are made from either a metal alloy or porcelain. They are hollow so they can be anchored onto a post called an abutment made from the core structures of your tooth.

Our dentist will use a drill to remove the tooth enamel layer. Then, they will create a detailed impression of the abutment and the surrounding teeth. This will be sent to a dental lab where your new dental crown is made.

A member of our staff will call you to schedule a second appointment when the new crown is ready. This appointment will be brief as the temporary crown will be removed and your new crown will be cemented into place.
