Braces are often seen as a cliché image of childhood and adolescence when our primary teeth grow in out of alignment with our ideal smile. However, childhood is not the only time in our lives when we might need realignment of our teeth for function or cosmetic reasons.

Invisalign is a great alternative for adults who might feel self-conscious with braces or who simply need a minor realignment.

In the first step, we schedule an appointment where we will take photos, x-rays and make impressions of your teeth. This helps us understand what your particular needs and goals might be as well as develop a plan to attain it.

Once we have a plan in place, a series of plastic aligners will be custom built to match your mouth. These aligners are made from a clear, durable plastic. The casual observer can rarely even notice you have them in!

Every two weeks, you will switch to a new set of aligners as your teeth gradually conform to your ideal placement. Ideally, you will need to wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day. Be sure to brush and floss your teeth per your normal oral hygiene regimen to remove plaque from your teeth and help maintain gum health.

For most people, the total adjustment period lasts around six to eight weeks.
